Why do we constantly need a Buffer?

Let me start by explaining what do I mean when I say Buffer. Buffer is any activity, responsibility or notion that keeps us from working towards our goal which can be anything, example - preparing for post graduation, changing jobs, going on a trip, go to gym, starting a new relationship etc. All the reasons we give ourselves to keep procrastinating or postponing something that we know we should be doing is the buffer.

Why do we need a buffer. Simply, when things tend to get real and we are not ready to face the reality we tend to distract ourselves by creating this buffer between us and the reality. But the question is, why do we feel this need to avoid the reality?

Well, I could think of one reason and that is fear of failure and not having anything to look forward to. Our lives are constantly driven by having something to look forward to, this gives us motivation and strength and a contingency plan when things are not going so well. But inherently we have this fear that we might fail and hence we fear facing the reality, we fear facing the truth that we might not have that fallback plan. This fear of failure is what keeps us from trying, this fear is what makes us postpone our efforts in the direction.

But one thing we often forget, not trying is the biggest failure of them all. If we try with all our heart, brain and soul, if we put in our earnest efforts, we will have at least one thing to ourselves and that is the satisfaction of trying instead of giving up. And as they say - if you try, you can fail, if you fail, you will learn, if you never learn, you will never succeed.

Be Flawsome !
(That's a new word I learned today.)

Puducherry - Give Time a Break

The French Riviera of India- serene, beautiful and peaceful. I fall short of words as I begin to describe my experience of Puducherry or Pondicherry as many people still call it.

Pondicherry is one of Indian Union Territories. The natives speak Tamil and French. You'll easily come across many French couples who have settled here for years and have excellent home-stay facilities at very affordable rates. If you really want to experience something different I'd suggest you go for such home-stays at least for a day and interact with them, listen to their stories, may be have a glass of wine together.
Beaches, food, wine - what is not there to love. Pondicherry in itself feels like a beautiful poetry- tree-lined streets, mustard-colored colonial villas and chic boutiques. Those porch style restaurants where you can just sit and idle away for hours lost in the serenity of the place.
As I mentioned the food here is amazing, just go to any cafe in the French part of town and you won't be disappointed. The colonial villas, the architecture - just roaming around in those streets either on foot or on a two wheeler( which you can easily hire at 300 Rs per day) is another experience altogether.
Sunset at the beach, a quiet evening at Aurobindo ashram will wash away all the stress of your hectic city life.
There are many water sports that are available here, I'd suggest you to go for scuba diving if you are not planning a trip to Andamans or Maldives soon ;)

Happy Tripping!
